Spring 2017 Events in Arizona
Like other rallies oriented around the timeframe and location of the nationwide FMCA conventions, Arizona will become the center of the motorhome universe in the spring of 2017. It begins with Diesel RV Club’s Sedona- Verde Valley Spring Rally in Camp Verde, Arizona. The gathering of owners will end with the FMCA convention and expo near Phoenix in Chandler, Arizona.
Sedona Verde Valley
Camp Verde is near the geographical center of the state and only a short drive south of both Flagstaff and Sedona.
As the staff at Sedona Verde Valley Tourist Commission are eager to point out, the area is a place of startling beauty, unforgettable stories, invigorating adventure and tantalizing flavors. The valley is nourished by the Verde River, Arizona’s only wild and scenic river, and flanked by green mountains and red rocks making it an environment that supports interesting hiking trails and golf courses.
In Sedona Verde Valley one can explore Native American cliff dwellings, the area’s copper mining heritage, ranching and farming. Visitors can alwo expore historical old towns and main streets with a variety of venues for shopping or dining as bald eagles soar overhead.
Sedona Verde Valley has been featured in many films and several star-quality people own homes tucked away in the canyon. During the DRVC rally, time will be permitted to explore the scenic Oak Creek Canyon, take a ghost tour of the old mining town, or refresh the body and mind at one of the valley’s unique vortex sites. These places are rumored to have healing properties and are few and far between across the globe, with the other known vortexes occurring at Machu Picchu and the Great Pyramids.
Other ways to take in the multi-colored sands and skies that stretch forever include jeep tours of the outback,
canoeing, kayaking and rafting on the Verde River, riding the trails, fishing for trout, or floating up into the sky in a hot air balloon. And for those who enjoy a little competi- tive camaraderie, Sedona hosts the Sedona Marathon and Century Bicycle Tour every year.
