Fleetguard PG vs EG
« on: January 15, 2017, 09:21:02 AM »
8.3 Cummins Mechanical

1. I bought this rig a few months back. The coolant is Fleetguard ES Compleat PG. I am having a tough time finding any of this stuff. Everyone stocks EG instead. Can these two ELCs be mixed?

2. I queried PG and see that its advantage is that it's more environmentally friendly than the ethylene stuff. I also noted that Fleetguard mentions using a coolant filter that injects DCAs. This rig has been maintained by Cummins and they did, in fact, install that type of coolant filter. I thought the ELCs just used blanks so that's what I replaced it with. Anyhow, shouldn't this coolant use a blank filter?

Thanks.

jor,

Welcome to the diesel RV Club.

Here is a Cummins/Fleetguard pdf document: https://www.cumminsfiltration.com/sites/default/files/LT32599_09_0.pdf

Though it states "compatible with all other coolants" for both, I would probably contact Fleetguard by phone or e-mail: https://www.cumminsfiltration.com/customerassistance_us

BTW, will be out your way the end of the month in our coach, then up to the Diesel RV Club Rally in Camp Verde to do their Maintenance Seminars.
