Cat C7 Water Pump to Thermostat Hose Replacement
« on: March 03, 2017, 11:12:37 AM »
I believe all the cooling hoses in my 2006 Tiffin Phaeton (Freightliner with Cat C7) are original as well as the coolant.  At 60,000 miles and 11 years it's beyond time.  I can get to all the hoses except for a short hose below the thermostat housing that comes up from the pump.  You can't even see it but you can get a hand on it from underneath the coach.  No way to change it out without removing either the pump or thermostat housing that I can figure.  The rest of the hoses feel soft and are definitely in need of replacement, all Freightliner parts.  Has anyone replaced this short one?  It's a Cat part and surprisingly cheap but impossible to get to!
Thanks, Steve

Steve,

Check with Caterpillar, but suspect that is a very high quality silicone hose.  Would only replace it if the water pump is being replaced.

I like your response!!  I'll double-check with my Cat dealer and hopefully they will verify same!
Thanks, Steve
