interior trim

Does the interior trim around the sliders provide any structural advantage or is it just cosmetic. Our 2005 Bounder has ugly trim that I would like to remove if it won't cause any structural loss. Does anyone have experience with updating the interior of their MH? Thanks, Charlie.

On my 2003 they are just trim. Had one pop off because the seat was not far enough forward when I ran the slide in.
