Winter route through Texas
« on: December 06, 2017, 05:52:17 PM »
Planning trip to Yuma in January passing through Texas from North Dakota.  Any suggestions on best route to avoid icy roads and high altitudes.

Thanks

I need some more info to give a good answer. what route are you taking South out of the Dakotas? Where are you entering Texas?
Are you coming down I-29?

Yep, I 29 out of Winnipeg through Dakotas, don't care about shortest route, just least amount of elevation changes and ice. Leaving Jan 1 and don't need to be in Yuma till the 12th. Should have lots of days for bad weather and no drive days.
Like to travel for abut 3 days and relax for a few as soon as we get out of the cold.  Was thinking of Hwy 10 as a target the head west.
