Cummins ISM sensor
« on: February 27, 2019, 09:24:09 PM »
I'm switching from a Caterpillar 3126 powered coach to a coach powered by a Cummins ISM.
What engine sensors would be prudent to carry as spares?

Thanks much,
Bob W

Bob, your ISM engine is a very good engine and is not over loaded with electronic sensors.
It would be my suggestion I would not spend the money in that area but would look at the
charging system along with starter. Carry a extra set of belts for your engine and the engine
Temperature Regulators and last extra fuel filters. The ISM again has a very good track record
record will get you to and from point  ( A ) to point  ( Z ) without carrying a box of parts you may never use . Ask Dave, Dave Atherton Retired Cat Mechanic

Thanks for the information David.  Nice to know my new engine has a reputation for for giving good service.  My sensor concern stems from losing an IAP sensor on my 3126.  Eight hours of driving to get a new one from Cat. After installing it all was well.  When we got home I bought a spare, it's still in the box.
