I would like to know if the muffler is a flow thru, and has any one has changed it for something that has improved fuel mileage. Roger 2006 Cat 350 hp C7

Your stock muffler is not a flow thru as such. I changed my stock

muffler on my 2004 330 Cat to a 4" FlowMaster and installed a sweeping

90 degree bend in front of the muffler for a smoother exit from the

engine and noticed an increase in performance and a 3/4 to 1 mile to

the gallon increase in the mileage since and that was 25,000 miles ago.

Dear Dick;
I would like to know if you coach is louder with the new muffler on, I am going to try it if it isn't to loud, I have a 1999 Freedom and it has a nice low sound to it now Thanks Duane

I changed my muffler also to a 5" Aero Muffler flow thru and have been pleased with the results. Search the web for Aero Muffler.

It is about 4 to 5 decibels louder at speed but not enough louder at campground exit speed to ever disturb anyone. We did another coach and the customer requsted a 5 inch Aero muffler. The increased diameter made that one a bit too loud in my eyes, but he liked it. His pipe converted to 5 inch before the muffler and mione converts to 5 inch after the muffler, so that is why mine is quieter.

The newer flow through mufflers definitely make more noise as there is less restriction on the exhaust gas flow

I replaced my stock muffler with one of the the beautiful, shiny Aero Turbine mufflers about two years ago, and regretted it. It was seriously and annoyingly loud. I had expected some increase in volume, but it even interfered with conversation at the coach's cockpit! I soon replaced it with a MagnaFlow muffler (also a straight through design), and now have an "authoritative but not obnoxious" sound, and, I assume, low back pressure.

Bill,
This topic is a bit stale but I'm curious if there is a muffler available that would improve the performance of a 2006 C9 400HP? I seem to be stuck at ~6MPG.
