Diagnostic Code 184 55 ?
« on: June 19, 2019, 11:55:48 AM »
Dave, yesterday morning I got a code I didn't notice right away, and inadvertently cleared it a few hours later.  There was no impact I could tell as I drove and fuel consumption was normal for the miles driven.  I have a 3126B, serial # 7AS01206 in a Safari motorhome, and was towing a 4,000 pound Ford Edge.  You scanned my engine at Shawnee OK on 8/26/2018 and found no existing or history of diagnostic codes.  The diagnostic history file from my Silverleaf system shows the following:

Diagnostic History File

SRC TPE  ID MD COMPONENT                      MODE             MM/DD/YY HH:MM
=============================================================================
ENG SID   184 55 UNKNOWN COMPONENT              Unknown Failure   6/18/19  9:37

The code did not re-appear over the 300 miles or so I have driven since then, through today.

Does the code mean anything to you that I need to be concerned about?

Gary , sorry I have not returned your post but been out of town. So anyway the code 184-55
Caterpillar 3126 B in not in the Caterpillar system . Did you use the blink method to come up
With this code. Only other way to try again and if same code comes you must be doing some
Incorrect. Ask Dave, Dave Atherton Retired Mechanic

Note: if there is still question about above code 184-55 than would suggest connecting Cat
ET diagnostic service tool into your engine.

Thank you for the reply, Dave.  I know nothing about the "blink" system to get codes.  This code (and the report I included in my original posting) was captured by my Silverleaf system (connected full time to the under the dash diagnostic port).  In any case, the code has not returned over the last 800 or so miles, so not worried about it.
