What problems may arise when there is too much oil in the crankcase of an ISX15? We have an 06 Affinity with Silver Leaf. Evidence suggests we are 6 qts high on the dipstick. It’s well over the hash mark on the dip stick. Last oil change left it just a hair above the hash marks (full line), and now it is even higher. We have an add-oil reservoir on board. I believe the switch in bay P7 activates a small pump to add new oil, but I’ve never used it. Oil level has always been full or high. Could that device be pushing oil into the crankcase if device is faulty?
Along with this scenario, after being parked for 5 months at a work lamp job in WI, w/ 5 engine exercise sessions during that parked period, we left to head south as weather changed, and found ourselves stopped in a severe nose down attitude for maybe a minute, waiting for traffic, and minutes after getting going, a huge puff of black smoke blows out the exhaust while under hard acceleration. The check engine lite came on immediately, and Silver Leaf fault showed on the screen. The smoke remained evident the rest of the day but only under moderate to high acceleration pressure. The tow car has a light mist of black covering the passenger side.
I’m thinking that the damn oil overfill somehow got sucked into something when all the extra oil was pooling in the front of the crankcase for that extended period.
Looking for some thoughts from my brilliant club members.
